After the IOT (internet-of-things), we’ll have the next generation: The IOB (internet-of-bodies). It’s going to be a big part of the coming medical revolution, providing precise, constant biological feedback for more precise understanding and treatment of illnesses. This version of the “neural dust” is clearly not there yet, but at the pace they’re on, Kurzweil’s talk of robots swimming around our bloodstream by the 2020s is looking increasingly likely. Nanotechnology
