This is a concept design created by Jake Evill from New Zealand. This 3D printed cast means no unnecessary itches and nasty smells that is a result of a more traditional cast. The more dense webbing near the wrist allows for stability, while the large holes on the forearm allows for breathing and slight flexibility. With exact measurements made with the use of x-rays, it allows for a one of a kind fit that is ideal for bone healing. In addition, it incorporates LIPUS(Low Intensity Pulse Ultrasound) which has been shown to increase calcium incorporation into cartilage and bone in addition to activation of genes that are known to be involved in bone healing.
